This Angel design from Q Studios was taken from the magnificent Bronze entry doors at Grace Cathedral, which are replicas of the Baptistry doors of St. John's Cathedral in Florence, Italy. The original doors were designed by master Leonardo Ghiberti, and installed at St. John's in 1452. The doors are a masterpiece of early Renaissance art, each having 12 panels depicting various scenes from the Bible.

The two figures reproduced by Q Studios from the doors are an Angel with hand extended in blessing from the "Moses" panel, and a small Frog that was a detail in one of the frames that surrounds each panel. The large Angel ornament and Frog pendant are the actual size of those on the doors. They were developed from impressions taken by hand by the artist from specially installed scaffolding erected for that purpose. The smaller sized pieces are carefully reduced miniatures that perfectly preserve the original proportion and detail in a scaled down size ideal for jewlery.
